It was for a Punjabi movie named Gul Baloch.
In the year 1944, Mohammed Rafi recorded his first song under music director Shyam Sunder.
From there on began the journey of the most versatile singer of India. He invited Rafi to come to Bombay for a recording. Among the audience was seated the great composer Shyam Sunder who immediately recognized immense talent and untapped potential in Rafi. He was allowed to do so and it turned out to be the correct exposure for him. When the audience began to lose patience, Rafi's brother Hamid requested the organizer to allow Rafi to keep the audience entertained till the power came back. But there was a power failure at the venue and the legendary singer refused to sing. One day Rafi along with his brother Hamid went to attend a performance by the renowned K.L. Rafi's first public performance was at the tender age of 13.
Thus, Mohamed Rafi went on to seek training in Hindustani classical music from eminent personalities like Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Abdul Wahid Khan, Pundit Jiwanlal Matto and Firoze Nizami. Rafi's love for music was recognized soon by his family and he was encouraged to pursue it further. In the year 1935, Rafi's family moved to Lahore. Lovingly addressed as "Pheeko" by his family, Rafi started showing his inclination towards music at a very early age when he used to imitate the chants of a wandering beggar in his village. Mohd Rafi had five older brothers ad his father's name was Hajji Ali Mohammad. Muhammad Rafi was born in Kotla Sultan Singh located near Amritsar in the then undivided Punjab. Come bak home.1st thing u do when u get bak home.is to goto Mom and HUG her and say "Eid Mubarak!!!" :( :( :( :( :( I Miss waking up early on Eid day n having a fight wid my lil sis over whose gonna go to take the shower 1st.I Miss Going out of my room in the morning and saying Salam to my parents.I Miss eating delicious SIWAYYAN in the morning.I MISS going for eid numaz with Dad and how he used to remind me again and again to take the cap with me.but I would pretend I forget otherwise my hair style would get ruined.I MISS being the first one out of everyone to be hugging my Dad thrice and saying "EID MUBARAK".I MISS being the 1st one to be rushing into the house after eid numaz and being the 1st to Hug my Mom and say "EID MUBARAK!" Praying the Eid Numaz.and 1st thing u do after the end of Eid Khutba.is get up and HUG Dad and say "Eid Mubarak!!". Getting to the Masjid.and looking at everyones faces.MashAllah everyone look so happy. on the way getting advice from Dad to continuously repeat "ALLAH-HU-AKBAR. I MISS U GUYS!! :(ĪaaaHhh.I remember on Chand Raat when u hear the announcement that the moon has been sighted for eid.call everyone up and give them Mubarakbaaad of Chand Raat! Miss those calls:(ĪaaaHhh.then when just about to goto sleep to wakeup early in the morning take out the new clothes n new shoes.n start preparing to be dressed nicely on the eid day.miss those times :(ĪAAAAaaaaaHhhhhh.then on the Eid Day itself.excitement is at its peak.wakeup at 7am.do pray fajr.go straight to take a nice n quick shower.wear NEW CLOTHES :D and come out of the room and 1st thing u say is SALAM to M0m n Dad.then eat sumthing sweet may b SIWAYYANNN!! :D Then goto the Masjid wid Dad. We never really Thank ALLAH for what HE has Blessed us with.our family.our friends.our loved ones.and what better time to be spending wid ur family, friends & loved ones then the Blessed Islamic Event of EID-ul-Fitr! I can still remember my Ramadan four years back when I was in India.around all my family members, friends and loved ones.and I was praying to Allah that I wanna go abroad for work so please send me quick! Now Alahamdulillah.with the Blessing of Allah I am abroad.far away from home.far away from my family.far away from all my friends and loved ones.
